Humpty Dumpty

First paragraph an traditional nursery rhyme... additional writing by Kim Cronin, 2022

Humpty Dumpty sat on a wall,

Humpty Dumpty had a great fall.

All the king's horses and all the king's men

Couldn't put Humpty together again.

So Humpty laid by the side of the wall.

Feeling defeated.

The horses and men that were sent by the king

couldn’t fix the cracks caused by the fall.

It was something Humpty had to do alone.

To fix problems it takes strength and

to realize you can do it yourself.

Humpty was just an egg… getting started in life

The cracks from the fall didn’t define Humpty at all

In fact, Humpty had yet to evolve into life

Would a boy or a girl hatch out of that egg?

So using the cracks as a start of a hatch

Humpty hatched out and started her life.

She knew that she could do it herself.

Her strength was in confidence, trusting in herself.

She walked from the wall, a newly hatched chick,

Ready to tackle what life had to bring.

As life throws you struggles remember like Humpty,

What can seem like a problem can be worked out.

The cracks from the fall helped Humpty come out.
